The Smoky Mountain Wheelmen proudly present the 18th Edition of the Cherohala Challenge. This year the Challenge will be held on June 9, 2018

The 2018 Cherohala Challenge consists of four distinctive events that feature ride distances and skill levels designed to please any rider, from the newer road cyclist with limited experience up to the seasoned veteran who is seeking to earn the rare title of Cherohala Dragon Slayer.

The 2018 Cherohala Challenge features distances of 35, 53, 62 and 115 miles, all with full SAG support and well-stocked rest stops. Your post-ride meal is also included in your registration.

Once again we will provide professional timing to keep track of total elapsed time for all of our riders as well as offering Finisher Medals for those that complete any distance of the Challenge successfully

A very few riders of high honor, sound mind and stout heart will earn the designation of Cherohala Dragon Slayer for completing the full Cherohala Challenge in less than 7 hours. These riders will earn a very special Dragon Slayer Medal for their  herculean efforts.

Online registration will close at midnight EST on June 7, 2018.

New for 2018

For 2018, the Cherohala Challenge is proud to feature an entirely new kit design created by the design team at Attack Creative.  Our ‘18 color scheme is red, black and tones of gray. You can view the new design and check out the complete listing of available items over on our Event Clothing Page.

Additional benefits for our early registrants will be a T-shirt that designates your ride distance and a pair of Cherohala Challenge kit socks.

Once again, we will award the designation of Black Knight for those qualifying as a Black Knight of Cherohala.

The designation of Black Night is awarded to only 2 of the most special, strong and elite of our entrants.  For more information about becoming a Black Knight, head over to the Black Knight Page and start your training early.
