CHARLES HALL RIDE
This ride is named in memory of Mr. Charles Hall, who served as Mayor of Tellico Plains for over 30 years and was a constant and vocal supporter of the Cherohala Challenge during his tenure, offering offering his continual assistance and support. Sadly, Mr. Hall passed away on December 31, 2014 and Mr. Hall’s wife of 71 years, Billie Nell, passed away just 5 days later, on January 5, 2015. For more information about Mr. and Mrs. Hall, please check out this article. Mr. and Mrs. Hall are sorely missed and we are proud to offer this ride in the memory of their encouraging spirits.
This ride is for those that are not ready to tackle the climbs of the Century and the Metric Century but want to enjoy the scenery while riding some of the best roads in the Tellico Plains area. This is a 53-mile ride of gently rolling hills along the lake with wonderful views. For those interested, you will pass the birthplace of Sequoyah and you may want to stop in to check it out or possibly make a note to return. This ride will take you along different segments of the Little Tennessee River as well as making a crossing, making for a very pleasant, scenic and comfortable ride.
Everyone that finishes this ride will receive a Cherohala Challenge finisher’s medal.
